Gym I: Language

A series of eight classes which will cover the basics of ‘Acting Shakespeare’ all done from a group, participatory physical/vocal approach. Through games and exercises, we will unleash the power of Shakespeare’s language. We will explore prose and verse, monologues and scenes, but this is not scene study class! You will leave the class with a set of tools that you can use when working on all classical (and/or contemporary) text.

Who’s it for? For actors seriously interested in exploring the craft of Shakespearean acting: actors preparing for graduate school or URTA auditions, students out of grad school who want to continue their exploration of classic work, working actors who still feel intimidated by Shakespeare auditions, actors who love Shakespeare but don’t get enough opportunities in the city to flex those classical chops: YOU!
